Dual Anti-Corrosion Mechanism of AZ150 (Core Advantages)

AZ150 aluzinc steel coil integrates two complementary anti-corrosion functions, which is the key reason it outperforms conventional galvanized steel (GI). Aluminum serves as a barrier shield: once exposed to air, aluminum rapidly forms a compact, inert aluminum oxide film. This dense layer blocks moisture, salt particles and corrosive contaminants from reaching the steel substrate. It delivers stable resistance against atmospheric rusting and UV degradation, with outstanding heat resistance. It can sustain continuous operating temperatures up to around 300°C, far exceeding the roughly 200°C limit of pure zinc galvanized sheet. Zinc provides sacrificial cathodic protection: when scratches, cut edges or punch holes break the coating and expose the base steel, the zinc component corrodes preferentially. This sacrificial effect stops the steel from developing red rust, granting the material self-healing performance on cut edges. This characteristic makes it highly suitable for roll forming, punching and profiling operations. Silicon acts as a process modifier: it optimizes the flow performance of the molten alloy during hot dipping, strengthens the bonding force between coating and steel substrate, and restrains excessive growth of brittle intermetallic layers. This effectively lowers the risk of coating flaking and peeling during bending and fabrication.

Under identical service conditions, premium AZ150 aluzinc steel coil can achieve 2–4 times longer atmospheric corrosion service life than galvanized steel with the same coating weight. It demonstrates prominent advantages in coastal zones, industrial districts and persistently humid environments.

Core Quality Criteria for Premium AZ150 (Guide for Buyers to Avoid Low-Grade Material)

Wide price gaps seen on the AZ150 market do not merely come from the product name. The real difference lies in production workflow and quality control standards, which are our core competitive strengths.

✅ Consistent coating distribution: We strictly control coating weight tolerance on both sides to eliminate localized thin coating, skip coating and bare steel. Many low-cost alternatives feature uneven coating, which drastically shortens salt spray resistance lifespan.

✅ Reliable substrate grades: Multiple substrate options including DC51D+AZ, S350GD and high-strength G550 are available. They fit general forming jobs as well as load-bearing roofing structural applications.

✅ Versatile surface finishes: Regular spangle, zero spangle, AFP anti-fingerprint passivation and oiled passivation can be selected. AFP treatment keeps surfaces free of fingerprints and suppresses white rust formation, ideal for bare sheet direct shipment.

✅ Excellent formability: Firm coating adhesion ensures no zinc peeling during bending, profiling, punching, slitting and longitudinal cutting. We tightly control surface defects such as zinc ash, dark spots, scratches and indentations.

✅ White rust mitigation: Adequate passivation treatment minimizes white rust risk during long ocean transit and storage under humid conditions. Note that white rust is oxidation of the alloy coating rather than red rust, yet it negatively impacts surface appearance.

Important note: Aluzinc AZ150 is not recommended for permanent immersion or strong acid & alkaline environments. For applications with constant saltwater immersion or heavy chemical corrosion, bare AZ150 alone will not be a proper solution.

Main Application Fields

Construction sector: IBR profiles, corrugated roofing sheets, wall panels, roof cladding, gutters, downpipes, composite floor decks, factory enclosures, warehouse cladding, livestock sheds and greenhouse structures. Substrate for prepainted steel (PPGL / PPGI): AZ150 is a preferred base material for color coated steel. It supports superior paint adhesion and extends the weathering lifespan of finished color sheets. Electrical industry: Cable trays, electrical enclosure shells and cabinet panels. Other uses: Solar mounting brackets, ventilation ducts, agricultural machinery components and auxiliary container parts.

AZ150 Selection Reference: AZ70 / AZ100 / AZ150 / AZ185

AZ70 & AZ100: Designed for low-corrosion indoor dry environments. Cost-effective, not suitable for long-term outdoor exposure.

AZ150: The globally mainstream balanced grade. Perfect for outdoor general atmospheric conditions, suburban areas, light industrial zones and coastal sites away from splash zones. It strikes the best balance of corrosion resistance, fabrication performance and cost, and remains the top pick for most roofing projects.

AZ185: For heavy corrosion scenarios, including coastal splash zones and heavily polluted industrial areas. It is specified for longer design life with higher budget support.
