The total iron ore shipments from Australia and Brazil were 26.425 million tons, a decrease of 951,000 tons from the previous month. Australia's shipments were 18.262 million tons, a decrease of 1.151 million tons from the previous month, of which Australia's shipments to China were 14.874 million tons, a decrease of 809,000 tons from the previous month. Brazil's shipments were 8.163 million tons, an increase of 201,000 tons from the previous month. In addition, the total amount of iron ore arriving at 45 ports in China was 18.386 million tons, an increase of 354,000 tons from the previous month; the total amount of iron ore arriving at six northern ports was 9.659 million tons, an increase of 1.399 million tons from the previous month.
From the data, although the global iron ore shipments fell by more than 2 million tons in this period, it is still at an absolute high level, an increase of 2.7% year-on-year. As the weather factors subside, the shipments from Australia and Brazil will gradually increase. In March, the iron ore shipments will enter the incremental stage. In terms of arrival at the port, the arrival volume in this period remains low. Judging from the arrival time, the increase in iron ore arrival at the port will not be large in the next two weeks, and the future incremental stage will appear in late March, so there is not much pressure on the short-term iron ore supply. In general, with the improvement of steel mill profits, there is an expectation of improvement in iron ore demand, and the reduction in the short-term supply side will help the price of ore to stop falling and stabilize.
